The first thing I needed to learn about espresso was how to pronounce it properly, and then proceeded to promptly impose my new-found knowledge on everyone in my office (for better or worse). The second thing I learned about espresso is that it isn’t just a drink for hipster jerk wads that want to sound pretentious when ordering at the coffee shop. I mean, I guess it can be that too, but after getting an espresso machine for the office I realized that there is a big difference and it has nothing to do with pretentiousness. Just preferences. I switched from coffee to espresso last year and I have never looked back.
If you appreciate the bitter flavors that coffee has to offer you will love the rich aroma and creamy consistency that espresso is known for. I enjoy my coffee black usually, and will often take my espresso the same, though often times there is an option to steam milk or cream and the DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso Machine is no different. Features of this machine include the following:
- Push button control settings
- Cappuccino option for steaming milk or cream
- Built in grinder for freshly ground beans in every brew
- Grinder adjusts to fine or coarse grinding options
- Preprogrammed with 5 brewing strengths
- Pressure regulation system
Breakdown of the Features
The ease of use with the push-button control settings, and the adjusting of the grinder makes it easy to use this machine, and we can see why others have raved about the aforementioned product. DeLonghi is a reliable manufacturer in the world of espresso machines, and the brewing strengths with pre-programmed options allow us to soak in all of the luxuries this manufacturer has to offer us. The pressure regulation system ensures the consistency is perfect every time.
My First Impression
My first impression the DeLonghi ESAM3300 Magnifica Super-Automatic Espresso Machine was “wow” followed shortly by how much I love it. I was tasked with getting a new coffee machine for the office (ok I may have taken this task upon myself and asked to get one because I thought it would be cool). It took me a little while to find the one I thought was right and after setting it up in our little office kitchen I couldn’t have been happier with the result. It is very easy to set it up and start brewing.
I am an administrative assistant in a small Real Estate firm with about thirty employees and multiple clients, we also do monthly presentations for new homeowners on how to fix things themselves so there is always someone to impress. We had a Keurig before (still have it actually) but I asked if we could get an upgrade and argued it would be good for moral as well as impress clients. I can tell you right now that I haven’t had to buy refills for the Keurig in the last two months because nobody uses it anymore. I wasn’t any kind of coffee connoisseur before and I probably wouldn’t consider myself one now, but the thing is you really don’t have to be in order to taste the difference. This espresso machine is simply amazing and makes the perfect cup every single time. Everyone takes turns running to the convenience store around the corner (walking distance) to stock up on milk for making lattes and cappuccinos. Our break room has turned into our personal coffee shop, great for taking breaks, having lunch, or just getting a moment to enjoy the little things in life throughout the day. I feel like everyone’s attitude is so much better now (bad attitudes spread so fast in an office I feel like this is really important), though I might be a little bias since it was my idea.
The Advantages of the Product
The thing I like about this espresso machine most is that it has a built-in grinder made of stainless steel for durability. This is actually one of the biggest reasons I purchased this one rather than some others I saw for less money (though it does seem like built-in grinders are a fairly common feature in espresso machines). When looking at other models there seemed to be two common outcomes; either they didn’t have a grinder built in or it was made from some cheap plastic and looked like it might break the first time I used it. I guess you can always buy a grinder separately, but I liked the convenience of having everything in one place and saving a little space at the same time.
The other thing I really like that this automatic espresso machine has is the nozzle for steaming milk to make lattes and cappuccinos. Again, this seems like a fairly common feature but I picked this one because it looked easier to clean than the other ones.
The Disadvantages of the Product
I don’t really think there are any cons to this espresso maker. You can’t control a bunch of stuff but that’s really ok with me. When I was doing research and looking for the espresso machine that would work best for our needs I saw a wide range of options with tons of features. Things like adjusting the pressure for the water, or the heat, or having a lot of information about tamping. Personally, I thought all that was just too much and probably for professional use in a coffee shop. But, for our purposes this machine is perfect. It’s not complicated to use and everyone seems to love it. Programming it was a little tricky, but if anyone has programmed a VCR (really dating myself here) than this espresso machine isn’t anything you can’t handle.
What’s in the Box?
When shipped, the aforementioned machine comes with an instruction manual that tells you which parts are which, how to use them, and helps you understand the buttons on the front panel. As I mentioned earlier, it also features a grinder built right into the machine, so you don’t need to worry about getting one separately.
The Final Verdict
Overall, I am very pleased with the result of having this in our office. We don’t know if it would be enough to have in a coffee shop or anything, or if it could be used for professional use. However, it is a great addition to our little kitchen here. It is super easy to clean and the freshly ground coffee in every cup is a really nice touch. Once you try, it it’s really hard to go back to anything else.
