Working from home is simply the best. Every morning I would wake up at six and give myself a good twenty minutes to get ready, and by that I really just mean eating some yogurt for breakfast and putting the coffee on before making my way into the study, PJ’s and all. The only thing I really started to miss when I was first able to begin working from home was my morning caffeine boost from stopping at my local cafe at the end of my block. So, in order to get my morning fix I decided to buy my own cappuccino machine and after conducting some research and careful consideration I chose the Gaggia Brera Super Automatic Espresso Machine. And this is what I have to say about it:
* Made with stainless steel.
* Easy to use settings.
* Built in bean grinder.
* Fast brewing capabilities.
* Steaming nozzle to froth cream and milk.
* Easy to clean.
Breakdown of the Features
With a stainless steel structure, you don’t have to worry about durability with this Gaggia Brera machine, as it’s naturally promised. Equipped with easy to operate settings and a number of features like a built-in bean grinder, capabilities for fast brewing, and even a streaming nozzle for milk and cream frothing, you have everything you need to get started with this espresso machine. It’s also worth mentioning that it’s extremely easy to clean!
My First Impression
My first impression of the Gaggia Brera Super Automatic Espresso Machine was how compact it is, proving that big values can come in small packages. When I took it out of the box I was very happy with how sleek and professional it looked without being some huge, cumbersome piece of equipment that would be difficult to fit in my kitchen. I was even more pleased when I first set it up and started brewing my first cup of espresso. Not only was it extremely easy to set up but the espresso tasted wonderful. Also, I love kitchen appliances that are easy to clean, and I knew this one would be as well due to the stainless steel used to make it. Many of the interior components are made of plastic, so they should be cleaned regularly to prevent internal build up. In addition to this it has a removable drip tray, which can be washed in the dishwasher for extra easy clean up. Both the water tank and drip tray are up front, making them both a breeze to access, clean, and put back in place. Even if you have no experience as a barista you will still be able to make the perfect cup of espresso or cappuccino on the first try, this machine is seriously that easy to use.
The Advantages of the Product
The major advantage this product brings to the table is the stainless steel exterior. If given the option you should always go with this material for every product that goes in your kitchen, and here is a quick break down as to why. Stainless steel in a non-porous metal, mean there are no weak points of divots that bacteria can get into a hide, making it easy to clean and very sanitary which is an important feature for any kitchen device. The flat surface also diminishes the possibility of wear due to moisture finding its way into parts of the metal and corroding the surface, which allows the product to remain rust resistant and more durable.
Another great feature this espresso machine has to offer is how easy it is to use. The LED display features push button controls on the face of the espresso machine. It features a nozzle for steaming milk and cream in order to make cappuccinos, lattes, and whatever other types of caffeinated drinks for you to enjoy. The drip tray is easy to remove and dishwasher safe, making cleaning and maintenance easy and convenient.
The last thing I’ll mention about the advantages this espresso machine has is the built in coffee grinder. Though you can always buy one separately I really enjoy this option because it allows me to maximize the space in my kitchen. It also ensures that every cup I make will be fresh and consistent, as the machine know precisely how much coffee is needed for each use. This allows me to enjoy coffee house grade espresso, cup after delicious cup, every morning. The grounds are automatically tamped as well so you can get the highest levels of emulsification with the grounds and the high pressure of the water, which for those who don’t know is the real difference between coffee and water. Without the high pressure water passing through tightly packed (or tamped) coffee grounds you wouldn’t end up with the rich mixture of oils and coffee that make espresso the coveted morning pick-me-up that it is.
The Disadvantages of the Product
The only disadvantage to this product I could see was the size of the water reservoir. It’s really only big enough for three or four cups of espresso each time. This is perfectly fine for me as that is about as much as I would drink in a day anyway, so for a single purpose I don’t imagine there would be anything wrong with this. However, if you are buying this machine to add to your office where more than five people work you may want to go with something with a larger water tank. Though, all people would have to do is fill the water more frequently, which personally I don’t see as being a very big issue.
What’s in the Box?
Why, as a matter of fact it does. It comes with a one-year warranty to protect you against any problems with the components. I have had mine for about eight months now and I haven’t had any problems with the parts.
The Final Verdict
Overall, I think the Gaggia Brera Super Automatic Espresso Machine is great for personal use in your own home or for use in a small office as long as you don’t mind refilling the water. I have had mine for eight months and couldn’t be happier with my purchase. If you are looking to bring the flavors of the cafe into your own home, this is a great product that will allow you to do just that.
