You don’t need to travel all the way to New England to enjoy the flavors found in the green mountains. Keurig is one of the leading brands in capsule coffee brewing, and once you experience how convenient it is to get your morning caffeine fix this way it will be hard to go back to your old-fashioned brewing methods. Granted, there are plenty of devices that can brew coffee with capsules these days, but brewing a good espresso takes a little bit more.

If you are looking for a taste of Italy from the comfort of your own home than the Keurig Rivo is a new and revolutionary way to get it. I bought mine because I had the Keurig coffee maker and thought it worked well for the years that I had had it at that point. I was ready to move on to utilizing the same easy to use simplicity and hassle-free clean up I had with my coffee maker when considering to move onto an espresso machine.

The only thing here you have to clean is the automatic frothing container, and that can simply be put in the dishwasher. I originally bought this for the office, though since I have purchased one for my home as well that I use every day.

  •  Uses a capsule system.
  •  Brews perfectly in a minute.
  •  Automated frothing reservoir for milk and cream.
  •  Several frothing options.
  •  Two size options.

Breakdown of the Features

coffee machineUnlike many others on this list, the aforementioned espresso machine uses a type of capsule system and brews within 60-seconds. With a frothing reservoir that is automatic (for milk and cream) along with a plethora of frothing options, you’ll be able to customize your morning beverage with ease. There are also two size options if you’re feeling like a barista from your local café.

My First Impression

My first impression upon receiving this product in the mail basically met my expectations. Since I had was already familiar with Keurig as a brand I knew the setup would be simple and the interface would be very user-friendly. I was not surprised when I was able to take the espresso machine out of the box and start using it right away.

It is the most convenient way to make any caffeinated beverage. I made sure to order the pods when I ordered the Rivo so they all came in together and it could be used right away. After I filled the water reservoir on the side and put the pod in the receptacle and fired it up. It seriously only takes a few seconds and it pours perfectly brewed drinks with full flavors and great aromas.

I didn’t have any cream or milk to try out the reservoir when I first ordered it, but I certainly have since and it works perfectly. The office still has the old Keurig for brewing coffee, but I no longer use the one I had at home and have switched over completely to the espresso machine. Though, I believe they still use the old Keurig we had for making coffee you can use this one to make coffee as well, just keep the pod in place and adjust the amount of water used and BOOM, coffee.

The Advantages of the Keurig Rivo R500 coffee machine

The greatest advantage I think this machine has to offer is how easy it is to use and how little clean is required. Not to make it sound like we are all such babies that can’t handle cleaning up a few coffee grounds, but the fact is it just keeps the community kitchen we have in the office looking nice. I also completely eliminates any issues of so-and-so never brews coffee for the rest of us and “I always have to clean such-and-such.”

Honestly, the fewer headaches I have the better and this really eliminates any issues that typically arise when adults have to share things (now if only there were something I could buy to fix this problem with the microwave we would be set). Either way, when everyone is getting what they want and not having to clean up after others it makes the entire working environment more harmonious.Keurig Rivo R500 Cappuccino and Latte System Review

Now, for my personal use of the Keurig, I still appreciate a no-hassle cleanup and how quickly it can make things on the go; mainly, the automatic frothing apparatus. Though I would like it to be a little bigger, I love that it foams milk, cream, and even some non-dairy options consistently and perfectly with the simple touch of a button.

And, keeping with my complete lack of tolerance for messes I like that the liquid is fully contained while it’s frothing. This means that unless I spill it then there won’t be any mess from having to steam my cream. Also, it means that I won’t have to run the risk of burning myself with hot steam either, which any day I go without burning myself is a win, as far as I’m concerned. I don’t know, maybe I should reprioritize my life.

Apart from all the convenience, which I could go on about for some length, there are also some size options as well for both the portion size of the cup and the amount of cream frothed. The sizes are preprogrammed, so you needn’t worry about fiddling with the settings; it’s all just pushing buttons.

The Disadvantages of the Keurig Rivo R500 coffee machine

The only disadvantage I can see with the Keurig Rivo Espresso Machine is that I wish the cream reservoir was a little bigger. Apart from the aforementioned, we believe this is a great machine that delivers a quality product every single time. If you’re curious to know what comes in the box, please continue reading.

What’s in the Box?

There isn’t too much to the contents of this package; however, the box comes with the machine itself and the general instruction manual.

The Final Verdict

Overall, I simply love this machine. It couldn’t be easier to use, and it makes hands down the best espresso and cappuccino. It’s a machine that I highly recommend for those who are in serious need of a new machine and maybe on a budget of sorts. It’s not the most inexpensive, but it is one that packs a punch for what it’s worth.
