When I was thinking about getting an espresso machine at home, I wasn’t absolutely sure if I really wanted to spend the initial money to get one. Though, now that I have one, I can safely tell you that they pay for themselves pretty quickly in both money saved from not having to stop in the morning and time in going straight to the office with a delicious drink.

No more extra stops in the morning to account for, no more waiting in lines on the verge of a murder spree, just quick, easy mornings with some really nice saving in the long run. If that isn’t quite enough of a reason for you to get your own espresso machine, do it for the sake of knowledge. The best way to learn about something is to use it.

I never dreamed I would know as much about the process of making the perfect espresso as I know now. I can even smell the difference between coffee and espresso now. Breakdown of the Features

One of our favorite features of this product is that it has an auto-start and a programmable clock. For those who have to rush out in the morning or get the kids off to school before work, you’ll love having this feature. Maybe you’re just trying to wake up quickly and wok from home – either way, it doesn’t matter, as you’ll enjoy a delicious morning beverage without waiting. Easy to use and just as easy to operate, you’ll be able to use the built-in bean grinder and nozzles for frothing quite simply.

My First Impression

The first thing I noticed before I bought the Krups EA81 Pisa Fully Automatic Espresso Machine was the automation options. The second thing I noticed after I bought it was how easy it was to use. Really, if I had ended up with one that wasn’t, I would have blamed it on myself anyway, considering nothing in this price range should require and Italian apprenticeship to work properly. But, all joking aside it was no problem just to take the machine out of the box, clean it off, set it up and start making some pretty good cups of espresso or cappuccino.Krups EA81 Pisa Fully Automatic Espresso Machine Review

I was prepared for a small learning curve when I first bought it, as I have never had an espresso machine before this one and knew there were a few things to consider when making a cup, like ground coarseness and tamping. I was expecting it might take a few cups before I figured out exactly how to brew it correctly, however this machine takes out all the guesswork and does it for you. I really couldn’t be happier with this machine between the time I first had it delivered and now.

The Advantages of the Product

The greatest advantage I think this espresso machine has to offer is the automated setting for starting and brewing. This is a major advantage because it doesn’t take very much time to get everything set up, and you no longer need to worry about brewing in the morning when you are half awake. Simply set it up, and you are good to go with freshly ground coffee and high quality cups every morning as soon as you wake up.

Everything is adjustable and automatic, so you can get exactly what you want every morning before you even leave the house. Want super fine grounds? You got it. Want to you those extra special beans your friend bought for you when they went on vacation last month? Go for it. I just love this thing and can’t imagine why it took me so long to finally get one.Krups EA81 Pisa Fully Automatic Espresso Machine Review

The other major advantage is the 15-bar high-pressure pump this machine has. Ok, so backing up for just a moment and let me talk to you about why this is important. The primary difference between coffee and espresso is how the hot water is used to pass through the coffee grounds. With coffee the water is heated and usually just drips through the filter. In order to make espresso you need water pressure. The water is heated and forced through the grounds at very high pressures.

This emulsifies the oils in the coffee and forces it to mix with the hot water. This is what gives espresso its signature consistency and full-bodied flavor. So, without the high pressure you just get an expensive coffee machine. And the Krups EA81 Pisa has the high pressure needed in order to make espresso consistently. You should never get an espresso machine that does not address the water pressure.

The Disadvantages of the Product

The only disadvantage to purchasing this espresso machine over some of its competition is that it is made of plastic. Ideally, I would have liked to get one that was stainless steel but ultimately for me it came down to the price difference and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to invest any more on a product I wasn’t absolutely sure I was going to like.Krups EA81 Pisa Fully Automatic Espresso Machine Review

Additionally, in order to upgrade to the stainless steel I would have had to sacrifice the automated features unless I wanted to spend even more money and in the long run decided to go with the plastic. I’m still very happy with my decision but could see how someone might rather spring for the stainless. This one is still very easy to clean, so no harm done as far as I’m concerned.

What’s in the Box?

There’s not much that comes with the shipped contents of this package; however, you’ll receive the box and the promise of great espresso.

The Final Verdict

Overall, I think the Krups EA81 Pisa Fully Automatic Espresso Machine is great for your first espresso machine for personal at-home use. It is the first one I have ever purchased and I am not disappointed with the results.
